Aalborg University Copenhagen (AAU): AAU currently consolidates and further develops its profile as a dynamic and innovative research and educational institution oriented towards the surrounding world.

In a 2018 MIT report, AAU has ranked the best engineering university in Europe and the 4th best for engineering in the world (3rd best after adjusting for the nationality of respondents (see https://www.usnews.com/education/best-global-universities/engineering ).

Over the past three years, the university has experienced a 50% increase in earnings from the university’s cooperation with external partners. AAU is characterized by combining a keen engagement in local, regional, and national issues with an active commitment to international collaboration. The Department of Architecture, Design, and Media Technology (CREATE) is a multi-campus department with branches in Aalborg, Copenhagen, and Esbjerg. The Department hosts 140 researchers and Ph.D. students and participates in a long range of national and international projects. The Department is unique in the Danish context as it collects disciplines within architecture, design, media, and technology under one roof providing the foundation for a powerful new field of knowledge and development of competence within the field of design with a human focus.

The Media Technology section of the CREATE department has a proven and long experience regarding innovative media technology, immersive computer systems, media cognition, and digital culture. It actively participates in many research projects and collaborations with industry and counts with state-of-the-art laboratories, including the Multisensory Experience Lab and the Augmented Cognition Lab which will participate in the project.
